Winemaker Notes
The 2018 KO showcases some of our favorite estate lots of 2018: the Grenache and Touriga. Both of these were also bottled in limited quantities as single variety wines. The estate Grenache is beautiful with strawberry notes and hints of earth while the Touriga is dark and rich with firm, age-worthy tannins. This vintage also taught us that Mourvedre, although lighter bodied in Texas, does amazingly well in new oak, and here it was aged in European. It is rounded out with the velvety mouthfeel of Petit Sirah from Farmhouse Vineyards, a consistent favorite from these growers. In fact, we love Petit Sirah in Texas so much, we will be planting it in our estate in the coming years.
Food Pairing Notes
A fine steak and an open fire. This is a wine that will hold up to your best cuts of steak or favorite cigar.
