Tasting Notes
The 2017 KO is deeply flavored and rich. You’ll find gnarly notes of earth, tar, kirsch, blackberry cobbler, black currants and bramble on the nose. The mouth feel is full with structured tannin and notes of cherry cola, black cherry, and dried herbs.
Production Notes
Composition: 37% Touriga Nacional, 25% Alicante Bouschet, 25% Tinta Amarela, 13% Tinta Cão
Winemaker Notes
The KO traditionally has comprised of primarily Portuguese varieties from our estate. In the 2017 vintage, we continue with the spirit of bringing our KO members something unique by blending in Alicante Bouschet, also known as Garnacha Tintorera in Spain and Portugal. It is one of the world’s few red-pulped grapes. It contributes beautiful rich red fruit aromas as well as a minerality that can be hard to come by in a red.
