2022 was a vintage to remember. The 2022 vintage was a drought stricken year with multiple days above 100 degrees and an extremely windy flowering season. This all lead to a smaller yield and smaller berries. The lower yield and smaller berries in turn had intense flavor concentration. We capitalized on this with longer aging and the use of 500L puncheon for fruit retention. The 2022 Viognier Reserve actually has about 48% French oak aging over a period of eight months. The stainless steel portion of this wine did not go through malolactic fermentation. We look forward to seeing how this wine develops in bottle.
