The 2020 GSM Mélange is our second pure “ G, S & M” since 2015. The 2020 growing season was hot and dry which lead to small berries with concentrated flavors. This has given us a fuller bodied GSM than in 2019 and will be an interesting comparison over time - a tale of two vintages. Because we had the body in 2020, we used more second use American and European oak on these lots which is evident in the tannin structure and smoky notes. Both will mellow over time and continue to provide complexity and texture for many years.
