We bring in anywhere from five to ten different Tempranillo lots each vintage. They all have some obvious similarities, but interesting differences as well based on the location of the vineyard, age of the plants, clones, and each growers specific practices. This vintage of our High Plains Temp combines some older vines from Bingham (about 10 years old) and younger Temp from Lahey (about 4 years old). The younger vines don’t provide as much complexity or depth of flavor, however they do give lots of lovely bright fruit and floral aromatics. A little more earth and body come from the older vines and addition of Mourvedre and Syrah.
