2018 Kuhlken Vineyards Reserve
2018 Kuhlken Vineyards Reserve

The Kuhlken Reserve is a wine we make using only fruit from our estate vineyard in Fredericksburg, Texas. As such, it is “non-traditional,” and although often lead with Tempranillo, we are pleased to show-case mostly Touriga Nacional in this vintage. Touriga is a unique Portuguese grape which can be quite intense with dark fruit, floral and mineral notes. We think it’s high tannins are nicely balanced by Mourvèdre and fruity Grenache in this blend. The Merlot used here is from 24 year old vines—the first planted at the site.

This is a wine designed to age, and we do recommend cellaring for at a minimum of one year before drinking. Note that it is unfined, and vegan.
