2017 PC TX Malbec
2017 PC TX Malbec

Because of it’s fame in Argentina, many people seem to forget that Malbec isn’t actually a South American grape. It’s a French variety, known in Bordeaux and also in Cahors. In Texas, it is stylistically closer to that of a Cahors Malbec and has little in common with the high alcohol, big bodied wines coming out of South America. That being said, it is an      interesting , if not fickle, grape to grow in Texas and in certain years can be quite the special wine. It was a favorite of our Winemaker that year, Demi, and she was excited to share our first varietal Malbec with Texas.

Tasting Notes
This Malbec is beautiful in the glass– nearly opaque in color. You’ll find notes of plum, black cherry, currants, violets, earth and rosemary. On the palate you’ll similarly find rich black fruit, plum, tobacco, and cocoa notes with hints of earth and dried leaves.
Production Notes
95% Malbec, 5% Petit Sirah
Food Pairing Notes
We enjoy this wine with charcuterie meats, cheeses, and olives, pork roast, roasted lighters meats and hearty vegetables.
