2016 Valhalla
2016 Valhalla

Our first vintage of Valhalla was in 2012. Although we might be better known for our Spanish and Rhone varietals, my parents lovingly planted Sangiovese in their vineyard with the hopes of recreating some of the Super Tuscans they were so fond of.  That same Sangiovese, 20 years later, is contributing some of the fruit notes and food friendly acidity in this Italian style red wine blend. While not a constant in our line-up, the Valhalla has become an in-house favorite anytime the conditions are prime for it.

Tasting Notes
Our 2016 Valhalla is a wine that is ready to enjoy now – given that it won silver at the San Francisco International Wine Competition, we aren’t the only ones that think so. Not surprisingly, the nose on this Italian blend is old world with notes of dried herbs, black liquorice, leather, dried cherries and bright fruit. Earth tones of wood and tobacco contribute to a complex finish and smooth mouthfeel.
