Stonewall Glogg - NV

Drinking glögg is the traditional Swedish way of getting together with family and friends during the holiday season.  The name comes from the Swedish word "glödga," which literally means "to heat up," and the Swedish practice of drinking warm spiced wine goes all the way back to the 16th century unifying king, Gustav Vasa.  Today Swedes traditionally drink glögg with raisins and blanched almonds, accompanied by crisp pepparkakor (thin, crunchy ginger cookies).  Glögg's light spiciness is never cloying and warms spirits on cold winter evenings.  It can be drunk either as an aperitif or with dessert.  Our Stonewall Glögg fortifies local Texas wine with aged brandy, infused with organic spices to make a delectable holiday treat.

Other Notes
Although it can be poured from the bottle as is, the traditional way of drinking Glӧgg is to heat it, add a little sugar, and then serve it in a cup filled with a tablespoon of raisins and almonds. If friends and family are coming over, pour the entire bottle into your crockpot, heat on low and your house will smell like Christmas! If you are heating just a single cup, microwave it in a microwave-safe mug for 45-60 seconds, making sure not to overheat, and then add sugar to taste. Usually 1 tsp of sugar per cup is sufficient.
