2018 Cuvee 1853
2018 Cuvee 1853

Carignan is quickly becoming one of our favorite Rhone reds in Texas. It it similar to Grenache, in that it can do anything. Rosé, light and fruity reds, and more structured serious reds. It is different from Grenache in that it does offer more earth, minerality, and darker fruit notes, however, and these can prove to add a lot of interest and complexity to even a simple blend. Here we have blended in Syrah (possibly Carignan’s soulmate) and added a hint of Cab Sauv for body.

Note that it is unfined, and vegan.
